Maysoon

A relationship falls apart, a passport expires and suddenly everything is at stake. Maysoon, an Egyptian archaeologist working as a museum guide in Berlin, lives with her partner Tobi and their two young children. Life is good they are a happy family—until, after a day at the beach, Tobi reveals that he has been having an affair. Maysoon must watch helplessly as the middle-class life she painstakingly rebuilt begins to crumble. Between personal betrayal, an impending divorce, bureaucratic obstacles, and the looming threat of deportation due to her expired passport, she is also confronted with the politically charged memories of the Arab Spring. In a city that once promised freedom, Maysoon faces the question of her place in a society that seems to have long moved on without her.
