»The film’s entirely successful in bringing to light the unique and often misunderstood talent of one of cinema’s most infamous and enigmatic filmmakers.«

UK Film Review

It’s a difficult task to introduce the work of cinema masters such as Walerian Borowczyk, whose vast filmography dances across genres and dwells within the open spaces of charm, excitability and surrealist incongruity. However, Kuba Mikurda’s documentary delicately captures the inner workings of this legendary Polish auteur Walerian Borowczyk, often labelled by critics as a genius who also happened to be a pornographer. »Love Express« features interviews with his closest collaborators, filmmakers and leading intellectuals who put his work into perspective, including Terry Gilliam, Bertrand Bonello, Neil Jordan, Andrzej Wajda, Patrice Leconte, Slavoj Žižek. This unique artistic chronicle sheds light on his professional philosophy and artistic achievements and investigates how one moves from creating cutting-edge work and competing in Cannes to being labelled an erotic filmmaker.
