James is a young man in dire need for a meaning in life. He won’t get it from
his girlfriend, as she gave him the boot instead. Alcohol only gets him into
more trouble and his penchant for fistfights lands him in a trash-heap one
night. There he finds said purpose in the form of an old bicycle frame, which
he lovingly supplements with parts and turns into a beautiful two-wheeler that
becomes his one true love and the envy of others. Which is where the problem
lies, as the frame happens to be a part of cycling history, a mythical object
even. It catches the eye of a clever and determined collector, who is the only
one who recognizes the true value of this Excalibur among bicycles. It’s the
spirit of Jim Jarmusch and the Coen Brothers that flows through Max Train‘s
love letter to the iconic bicycle, surely one of the funniest, most inventive and
astonishing Canadian films of the last decade. An absolute must!
