Eugene is anything but ready to retreat. Stubbornly clinging to his old family home, he lives caught between rigid routines and memories of times past. When his son gently tries to push him into assisted living, Eugene rebels in an entirely unexpected way: he buys a computer, discovers social media, and befriends a group of Gen-Z kids. Suddenly, joy and vitality return—much to the dismay of his son, who has already earmarked the proceeds from selling the house. As Eugene embraces new perspectives and forges unlikely friendships, a sinister string of murders begins to close in around him. With a sharp eye for visual ideas and eccentric characters, Hank Bedford crafts a story in which Scott Glenn unfolds the full force of his performance with palpable delight. Balancing tenderness and violence, Bedford quietly poses the unsettling question: how far would you go to defend your right to live life by your own rules?
