Isahn has brought guilt upon himself. He spent 28 years in prison, and when he is finally released, he comes face to face with Ali. Ali is the son of the man Isahn killed, and after all this time his family wants the revenge they are entitled to according to the old customs. But Isahn proposes a deal to Ali: Seven days the old man asks from his murderer. Seven days to do penance, settle matters, and reflect on the past and come to terms with the present. Seven days to die. This unheard-of agreement gives rise to a surreal week in the lives of two men, during which they grow closer to each other. And yet the dark threat of imminent death lurks inevitably at the end of this week.
Yigit Küçükkibar tells his story in intoxicating shots, yet with an undisguised oriental sensibility and understanding for the inherent ambivalence of his characters. He seems not interested in reducing his film to a seemingly archaic revenge theme or accusatory, rage-filled social criticism, but rather in looking at an outwardly modern society clashing with the time-honored traditions of its forefathers and their understanding of family, honor and masculine self-assessment.
